Telephone Dial Tone Sound Effect

In this Royalty Free Sound Effect, you will hear the UK Telephone Dial Tone. At first I recorded the sound effect direct from the telephone, but abandoned that as there was the occasional clicking sound. So sadly, I had to put my trusty Zoom H1n to one side. I then decided to find out how the telephone sound effect was generated. I learnt that this particular sound effect was generated using the combination of 350 Hz and 450 Hz tones. So using Audacity, I generated the pure sound of a UK Telephone Dial Tone (without the clicks).

UK Telephone Dial Tone – Soon to be a Sound of the Past

More and more people are only using mobile phones, so even now for some people the sound of the dial tone in the UK is becoming less and less heard. We also understand that landlines in general are also going to be phased out in the next few years, so this may well be another sound that will disappear in a very short period of time. For many people in the UK, they unknowingly picked up the phone and listened out for this tone, so they new when hearing this sound they could dial the number they wanted to call. The sound of the dial tone will soon be a nostalgia sound.

Telephone Dial Tone for Study

As the dial tone is a form of white noise, some people may want to use this sound as a study aid. It is often said that a good white noise sound helps to focus the mind and aid with studying. We all have different tastes when it comes to the desired sound to use for studying, maybe the sound of the telephone dial tone is the sound for you. The great thing about using a constant white noise sound, is that it helps to block out unwanted sounds that could distract you from your studies. When using a sound for studying, find a sound that you like, then play that sound at a comfortable volume and let the studies begin.

UK Telephone Dial Tone for Sleep

Perhaps you are looking for a sound for you, or even your baby to fall asleep to? Well, this site is littered with many different sounds that you or your baby may either love or hate. In order to find the right sound for you or your baby to fall asleep to, is to play a number of different “white noise” sounds, to see which sound has the best calming action.
