YouTube Video Check Off List
Video Recording Check-list for YouTube
I have put together a check list that you may want to consider when creating a video for YouTube. Obviously you will be in charge of the making/filming of the video, but the following points should help you in your recording process. Also by doing some of these things you will be increasing your Subscriber count and Watch Time. The YouTube Algorithm will also reward you for getting people to stay on YouTube longer.
When You First Record Your YouTube Video
Title of the Video Very First Words: With speech recognition getting better all the time, maybe start with what your title is about?? This way the YouTube Algorithm will know what your video is about!
Hello and Welcome: Of course you want to welcome new and returning viewers, so do make them feel welcome!
Hook – Why Watch this Video: Tell them something that will benefit them from watching your video.
Teaser – Watch Video to the End: Basically, you want to get viewers to watch as much as your video as possible, so include a tease as to why they should watch to the end. In my knotting videos, if there were any measurements or additional information a viewer would find useful. I would always say “Length of Cordage used, will be at the end of the video” This way you get a viewer to watch till the end.
Click to Subscribe: Ask the viewer to subscribe to your channel. Knowing when to ask for subscribers is the real trick. Ask too soon and the viewer will wonder why, as you haven’t said anything that interests them. Don’t ask too late within the video, as they may have already left. So, find a point within a video, where you think it is still very interesting to the viewer. It does take a bit of skill, but you will learn where that sweet spot is.
Share Video: Not many people ask for Shares, but getting your video shared is a very powerful tool. So do ask people to share if they enjoy your video!
Try to keep your intro short and interesting, there is nothing worse than waiting for all the blabber to finish. So try to include some or all of the above, keep it interesting, but as short as you can. Sometimes, just the text “Subscribe” could be used to replace a bit of the cackle and save time on the intro.

Things to Include in Your YouTube Video
Checkout Description: Invite the viewer to look at your description below the video. In there you can include additional useful information. Or maybe in the description box, there could be a link to your money site??
Leave a Comment: Invite the viewer to leave a comment. Once again the YouTube Algorithm will reward you, if you get viewers to interact with your video!
Refer to Another Video: If you can, refer to another video that you have done and encourage a viewer to click on that link. You can either put a link to another video in your description or as a pinned comment below your video. Once again the YouTube Algorithm will reward you for getting a viewer to watch more.
Finishing Your YouTube Video
Information Relating to Teaser: Remember the teaser at the beginning? Well now you can reveal all!
Thanks for Watching: Thank the viewer for watching and you can also again as for Subs, Shares and Comments as a final call to action.
I am sure that there are some things that I have forgotten, but as I think of them I will add to the list. Remember, your aim is to keep people on YouTube as long as possible! You may also be interested in other YouTube Tips and Tricks (click Link).
