Promoting Your YouTube Videos
Copyright Free Sounds
If you are creating videos to share with the world, then you may be interested in some of the sounds that I have collected over the years. It has been proven that additional sounds and unusual sounds can enhance the viewers experience. So please feel free to use any of these Copyright Free Sounds. The only thing I would ask,is that you give Riding the Rhino or Monotony TV YouTube channel a mention.
How to Promote Your YouTube Videos
Now YouTube does want you to succeed!! If you go to your Analytics and then click on Reach, you will see a funnel pyramid. This funnel shows you how many times your thumbnail was shown to viewers who were also using YouTube. So as you can see from the example in the diagram shown below, the thumbnails were shown 28.3K times to other people using YouTube. So as you can see YouTube is actively promoting your thumbnails. This is one reason why your YouTube thumbnails need to stand out in a crowd.
What is Click Through Rate on YouTube?
So as you can see from above, from the 28.3K that YouTube recommended my my videos, 1.3K views came from those impressions. So the CTR (Click Through Rate) was 4.5%. Our aim is to try and improve on the CTR, so the more popular your channel becomes, the better the click through rate.
However, to really make your channel grow, you CAN NOT just rely on YouTube to put your video thumbnails in front of other eyeballs!
Other Places to Promote Your YouTube Videos
Under all videos, you will notice a Share Button. When you click on that share button you will see something similar to below:
Now I would imagine that YouTube considers these places to be good and trusted places to share your videos to. So why not go through the list and see how many of these sites you can sign up to and promote your videos?
Tip When Socially Sharing Your YouTube Videos
When socially sharing your videos, do not just post to generic places like, YouTube Promotions, YouTube Video Share or YouTube Start Ups! Every man and their dog will be sharing to these groups, I very much doubt anyone will take the time to view your videos. So, if your video is about Knotting, then share the video to groups that would be interested in knots, such as; Sailing Groups, Bushcraft Groups, of course Knotting Groups, etc etc,
Useful Sites to Socially Share Your Videos To:
Trinding
This is a great little site for promoting your YouTube Video on. What I really like about it, is that it encourages you to interact with other posters in order to promote your YouTube Video. I personally find that many of my views do come from Trinding
Reddit can be a rather fickle place to post your YouTube Videos to. When using Reddit, I would recommend that you get used to the platform, before making your first post. Within Reddit there are Sub Reddits, on just about any subject that you can think of. When first starting out, maybe post to YouTube Start Ups as this group is more tolerant. Then once your are used to Reddit, choose a category that suits your YouTube Niche.
Mix
This site is a little like Pinterest, it was back in the day called StumbleUpon, but more recently changes it’s name to Mix. I am currently testing this site out for my own sharing needs, so far looks good. Mix.com
eBay
Yes, eBay is another place you can share your videos to! If say for example, you have a YouTube crafting channel and there are times when you sell your items. Then why not sell those items on eBay and also include a video of the item in your description. When including a video on eBay, it is always best to embed the video into the description of the item for sale. A quick search on; how to embed a video in eBay listing, will give you lots of results on how to do this. Not only will this enhance the eBay description, but also give your video some much needed views!
Facebook is jam packed full of different groups. Whatever your YouTube Channel is about, join as many groups as you can relating to your YouTube Channel niche. Alternatively there are many YouTube Groups on FaceBook. You could join as many of these as you can and post to them whenever you create a new video. For my knotting channel, I would post to over 70 groups, that were all related to Knotting! Here is a link to FaceBook Groups YouTube.
Tumblr
Is another great place to promote your video to. I am not an expert on Tumblr, but if YouTube are recommending this as a site to share to, then it must be worthwhile! Tumblr I do know that many views on my knotting channel came from Tumblr!
I do not think I need say much about Twitter, as most people do have an account. Another great place to share your YouTube Videos to! Twitter
Another reason to make GREAT thumbnails for your YouTube videos, as they will stand out more on Pinterest! So post to Pinterest and get your videos shared! Pinterest This is also a great site to post to when you are using the Community Tab on YouTube. If you have an excellent photo on your Community Post, then share it to Pinterest!
ВКонтакте
Although a Russian Social Media site, I did read a while ago that signing up to sites like this, is another really good way of promoting your videos! ВКонтакте.
Linked In
I do recall that Linked in was very popular in the past, so why not give this site a go? Linked In
Quora
Quora is a basically a question and answer site. People can ask a question and then the community will answer. If you think your videos will answer some of the questions posted on Quora, then why not join and search what people are asking, so that you can answer?
Free Video Sound Effects
Perhaps you are also looking for some Royalty Free video sound effects. Over the years I have gained a small collection of sound clips, which you are free to use. If you do use one of the sound clips in your videos, then please let me know. I make a post on the Monotony TV Channel, giving a shout out to your channel. Royalty and Copyright Free Sounds
